Shared Risk 100% Refund FAQs
Shady Grove Fertility was the first fertility practice to create an in vitro fertilization (IVF) guarantee program known as the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program.
Available to patients who do not have insurance benefits or are choosing not to use their benefits to cover the cost of their fertility treatment, our exclusive program provides patients with the opportunity to pay a flat fee for up to 6 IVF or donor egg cycles and any subsequent frozen embryo transfers. If you don’t take home a baby, we provide a full refund. Patients using donated eggs, donated embryos, or doing Shared Risk Frozen Embryo Treatment are not eligible for the reduction in pricing.
The majority of patients who apply for Shared Risk meet the criteria for the program. This program requires patients to qualify after a full medical work-up. Women must be under age 41 (age 40 and 11 months to qualify, with all egg retrievals occurring before a woman’s 41st birthday). Women over age 41 may participate in our Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for Donor Egg (additional fees apply for using donor egg(s)).
The Shared Risk 100% Refund Program includes up to 6 IVF cycles in addition to:
Cycle Monitoring: This is defined as bloodwork and ultrasounds completed during the stimulated IVF cycle.
Egg Retrieval The egg retrieval is performed at an SGF surgical center.
ICSI, Assisted Hatching, and PGT embryo biopsy as medically indicated by your Physician
Embryo Cryopreservation
Frozen Embryo Transfer(s), if needed, using embryos created during an IVF cycle within the Program
Physician consults between cycles
The Shared Risk 100% Refund Program has enrolled more than 25,000 patients to date. More than 82% of enrolled patients have welcomed home a baby. In other cases, we provided a 100% refund to support other family building options.
More than 1,000 patients who delivered a baby on their first cycle returned for further treatment and selected the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program again.
For people who don’t have insurance for IVF, the idea of treatment with no guaranteed outcome is risky, which is why we originally created Shared Risk. We designed a solution that provides patients who want to pursue treatment the opportunity to do so without having to bear the financial burden should treatment not be successful. Patients are not obligated to complete all treatment cycles available in the program and can stop treatment at any time and receive a 100% refund.
We recommend that existing patients speak with their designated Financial Counselor to learn more about the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program.
The Program is for patients who have no fertility coverage or are opting to waive their coverage. Patients will not be given an itemized receipt to allow for insurance submission, nor will SGF submit Shared Risk 100% Refund Program services to insurance.
The Shared Risk 100% Refund Program is not eligible for a discount, given the pricing has already been reduced. Should you qualify for an alternate discount, such as Shared Help or Military Discount, you may use the discount on a single IVF cycle outside of the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program.
