Kevin and I met one day at church, where he was and still is the Minister of Music. I visited the church a few times and fell in love with the way he sang and worshiped. He exuded such a beautiful spirit. My aunt, who was a member of the church, introduced us and I soon became a member. We started hanging out after choir rehearsal and began dating thereafter. We dated for four months before getting engaged. Kevin and I got married in 2012.
Kevin expressed his deep love for me by writing a song and singing it as his vows during our wedding ceremony. It brought me to tears, along with all of our guests. Kevin is the love of my life and we knew instantly that we were meant to be together forever.
Coming to SGF
We began trying to start a family but couldn’t understand why we weren’t getting pregnant. We even googled alternative ways to conceive. After five years of trying, we prayed and were led to Shady Grove Fertility in Rockville, MD. Kevin and I knew that SGF was going to help us find a solution to what seemed to be a mystery.
We met with Dr. Sagoskin and his team. The nurses and staff members were there for us every step of the way. They explained our options and answered every question. Throughout the process, we continued to pray and stand on the vision God showed us. I found out that I had a low egg count, which devastated me. I cried on the inside, but my husband was such a great support system. Dr. Sagoskin told us that we could try intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. He explained the success rates of each treatment and left it up to us to decide. We decided to move forward with IUI treatment and stuck to our doctor’s plan.
The good news
On Good Friday of 2018, we found out we were pregnant! We were so elated to have had success on the first try with IUI!
Now, Kevin and I have a beautiful baby girl who we just adore. We named her Kensington after the Queen of England’s palace. She was born on December 4th, weighing 5 lbs., 5.8 oz, and 17 inches long.
Being a new mommy is challenging yet rewarding. She holds all of my attention. She has shown me how to be more attentive and patient. My husband would stop the world for her if he could. The love my husband and I have for her is unexplainable. Being a new Mom is a job I will never quit. I’m filled with so much joy on a daily basis.
Advice to future patients
Please make SGF your choice. They understand your concerns. They are sincere and attentive to your needs. They hold you and your partner accountable when it comes to following your plan to conceive. I have encountered some of the nicest people ever at the Rockville office. They will assist you with the desires of your heart! I remember our first appointment to confirm our pregnancy. The nurses were so happy for us. You would’ve thought they were pregnant too. We enjoyed their enthusiasm.
Staying #SGFstrong
Kevin and I leaned on each other and focused on our end goal. We prayed together before and after every doctor’s visit and treatment. We held onto a vision that God showed us. We were determined to grow and build a legacy. Our faith is what kept us together. Our faith is what led us to SGF. Our faith is what led us to meet our beautiful daughter. Our faith is what sustained us. I encourage you to lean on your faith and allow it to push you into your hopes and dreams of parenthood.
