About Shady Grove Fertility
When co-founders, Michael J. Levy, M.D., and Arthur W. Sagoskin, M.D., established Shady Grove Fertility more than 30 years ago, they had no idea that the practice would rise to national and international prominence as a Center of Excellence in the field of reproductive medicine, IVF, and infertility. The goal of the new practice was simple: to provide cutting-edge fertility care in an environment that supported patients’ physical, emotional, and financial needs as well as to make future business and clinical decisions based on what is in the best interest of the patients.
By focusing on improving patients’ overall experience and pregnancy outcomes, Shady Grove Fertility found itself aligned with an ongoing commitment to excellence. Initially, ensuring a positive experience and engaging in a quest to raise the bar of success for patients meant hiring the best of the best — from physicians and laboratory directors to nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals.
It meant incorporating the latest medical technologies, investing in top of the line equipment and medical facilities, and continually finding ways to make treatment more affordable and accessible through guarantee programs such as the Shared Risk 100% Refund Program for IVF, egg donor treatment, donor embryo treatment, and egg freezing — 82% of participants using IVF with autologous eggs take home a baby, and 85% of patients using a donor egg take home a baby.
Celebrating 30 years and 100,000 babies born
Today, we are honored to celebrate more than 100,000 babies born and over 5,000 5-star patient reviews. The depth and breadth of the fertility program and the clinical experience of the physicians and scientists has been instrumental in establishing Shady Grove Fertility’s leadership position in the United States and making it a fertility center of choice among patients and 4,000+ referring OB/GYNs. Each year, our fertility specialists perform basic and advanced treatment cycles, among the highest of any other fertility center in the country—with success rates continuously well above the national average and high-risk, high-order multiple births (<1%) among the lowest in the nation.

“The patient comes first” is at the center of our philosophy at Shady Grove Fertility. At Shady Grove Fertility, a service organization at heart, we are fully committed to addressing and supporting all of the needs of our patients. We are committed to providing the most comprehensive, efficient, fiscally responsible, and compassionate care possible, involving both the medical and emotional aspects of infertility.
Based on our patient satisfaction survey results, 96% of our patients would recommend Shady Grove Fertility to a family member or friend.
Individualized patient care
At Shady Grove Fertility, we base our treatment recommendations on a variety of circumstances including your test results, age, medical history, previous fertility treatment, and personal preferences. With this many variables, it becomes clear why each treatment plan is customized to the unique needs of each patient. The goal for us is to offer you the best chance of pregnancy while balancing the ability to offer the least expensive, least complex treatment possible.
Physician collaboration
Behind the scenes, our physicians come together in person once a week to discuss treatment approaches or new protocols, attend Journal Club, or to discuss patient satisfaction and general practice improvement concepts. For patients, this translates to not just one physician reviewing your case file and treatment protocol but often several physicians from our legion of reproductive medicine experts weighing in and providing insight. While this is a significant time commitment for our physicians, each view it as an investment well spent as we believe it’s through these meetings that the collective knowledge of the entire group increases, and therefore, so does the care we provide.
Further, electronic medical records facilitate the seamless exchange of information between offices ensuring up to the minute details about treatment plans that remain available to our clinical care teams 24/7.
