Q&A

Before becoming a doctor, I shadowed other professions including education and hospitality. While I enjoyed these fields, I felt most inspired shadowing a physician. I was excited by the idea that science could be used to heal. As a doctor, I get to combine these interests by listening to patients to best understand their goals, empowering patients through education, and utilizing evidence-based medicine to help build families.

Family has always been and continues to be the most important thing in my life. I am honored to dedicate my professional life to helping others build their family.

In an field that is constantly innovating, SGF strives to stay at the cutting edge, while maintaining an evidence-based practice with the needs of the patient at the core of all we do.

I am inspired by my patients every day. One example that comes to mind is a patient who I cared for during all three years of my fellowship training. Despite challenges on her fertility journey, she continued to persist in her goal to build a family. We engaged in shared decision-making throughout the time, and I was humbled by the trust she placed in us as her team.

A fertility journey can be hard and isolating. Even the most resilient people can struggle at times. I make it a regular part of my practice to check in with patients to see if they are facing emotional challenges. Routinely, taking time to listen and try to understand how to best support my patients throughout this time.

I am inspired by my Mom. She works full time, but never misses a single important event in my life. She wisely encourages me that anything can be done if we just take the entire candy bar and eat one small square of chocolate at a time.

I am warm, kind, open-minded, loyal and steadfast.

Learning to wake surf, learning to speak another language, and traveling to different countries in Europe with my family.

I have always loved sports and a day without some form of activity is not a good day. I love running, biking, and playing soccer. Running through the beautiful surroundings of San Diego with my trail running group gives me the energy to be productive, and the mental balance to be a positive influence for my patients and family.

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my two little boys, two dogs, husband, and our families. We are very active and love outdoor activities like swimming, boating and hiking. I also enjoy jogging and have jogged in several marathons.
