Q&A

From my earliest memories, I remember being raised with a “look for the helpers” attitude. I wanted to be a helper and my skills and interests led me to both the sciences and people-facing endeavors. I knew that in becoming a doctor I could reach people in need of assistance in a deep and meaningful way.

The field of REI is the perfect combination of many of my personal and academic interests. Meaningful patient care, sticky ethical issues, constantly evolving technology, and changing legal landscapes dot almost every corner of this specialty and being able to navigate these waters while providing quality care has been the hallmark of every mentor that I’ve had in deciding to become an REI.

Shady Grove Fertility’s entire mission is to provide first-class care for our patients. SGF’s focus on best practices for patient treatment, participation in groundbreaking research, and dedication to training Fellow physicians around the country speak to its core values and make me proud to be affiliated with such an esteemed organization.

I once had the privilege to take care of a patient who happened to be pregnant after several years of trying to conceive and was subsequently diagnosed with recurrent breast cancer. Desperately ill, in need of treatment, and with careful monitoring, she pushed herself through mental and physical limits daily. I learned to never underestimate the grit and drive of a determined patient.

My patients and I have invested a lot of energy in each other. I try and provide counsel and care to my patients as if they were my own friends or family. My sole interest is to walk this difficult path with them and help them along their unique journeys.

I feel inspired by my patients every single day. While navigating some of the hardest challenges, often in private, patients come for appointments and monitoring before heading off into long days of work, family, and other life necessities. I am constantly amazed at the strength of their convictions and their dedication. I look forward to coming into the office each morning and truly feel energized by the strength and commitment of each of one my patients.

Dedicated, determined, and fiercely loyal.

Traveling throughout the US with my family, swimming with manatees, and learning how to make my own pickles and biltong! I would also love to travel to outer space- I always wanted to be an astronaut, but I think this is the first time I’ve ever publicly shared that!

Music is a big part of my life. My most cherished memories have songs attached to them like a soundtrack. I love seeing my favorite bands on tour, learning songs on guitar, and singing around the table with my family. I also love seeing how much money I can “win” on Jeopardy with obscure trivia before falling asleep.

Spending time with my family is my greatest joy. In a moment of quiet I do love to sit down with a good book and a hot coffee.
