Combined Federal Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
The Federal Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology is comprised of faculty from four institutions: the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), and Shady Grove Fertility (SGF). The Reproductive Endocrinology Training Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Three to four positions are available for each year, for a current total of ten fellows.
About the Fellowship
Based in the nation’s capital, the Federal Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology has the mission to train reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellows who will become future national leaders in reproductive medicine and to provide evidence-based, cutting-edge treatments to individuals and couples experiencing infertility. The program accepts civilian and military graduates of U.S. residencies in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with civilian and military fellows receiving the same worldclass training.
The three-year training program is structured to capitalize on the strengths and resources of each participating institution. Specifically, infertility services and operative care are provided by clinical services at Walter Reed Bethesda Hospital, the NIH Clinical Center, and Shady Grove Fertility. Experience in the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) is provided by rotation in the newly renovated, state-of-the-art Walter Reed Bethesda ART facility and at Shady Grove Fertility. Research opportunities are extensive, available at all four sites and the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
Resident or clinical fellows enrolled in an ACGME-accredited training program at NIH can apply to receive loan repayment for up to $17,000 per year of your qualified educational debt or may qualify for the “Competitive Loan Repayment Program” that could repay as much as $35,000 per year. Prospective applicants who meet the eligibility criteria for loan repayment are strongly encouraged to submit their electronic application upon acceptance into an NIH-sponsored, ACGME-accredited training program.
